We have just finished the novel, Savvy, by Ingrid Law. We have had several good discussions about this novel in class and you've had a chance to do some predicting and reflecting in your journals as well. We even emailed, the author, Ingrid Law, herself because we were curious as to why she chose Salina as a setting for the story. Now that we've completed this story, I want to know, what did you think of the book? Let's hear your opinion. Do you have "I Wonder" statements about what we've read aloud together? If you could ask some questions of the author, what would they be? We've had the discussion about the author's use of similes in the story, can you use the author's writing style to come up with a description of Savvy by using your own similes?

I thought savvy was an okay book but it could of been better. One thing that I wonder, what is sampsons savvy. I think he will be able to turn invisible since he is so good at hiding
savvy was the best book ever and i loved the plot and the romance i think will and mibs will start going out in the next book if there is one i pray to god there will be i bet it will be b etter than the first

A question I have for to Ingrid Law is, Is there going to be a sequel? I'm suprised that Mibs is bigger than Savvy.

Because if there is gonna be a sequel I am so gonna read it...What are gypsys and sampsons savvy gonna? I love this book i think I might have to read it again just to get the full intention. I think the Savvy is a great book to read because it is a very adventerous. I wonder what happened to Lester and Lil'. What was Gipsy's Savvy? It surprised me that in our wordle Kansas wasn't really big because Rocket and Mibs traveled around Kansas not always in Salina. But Salina was important because that's where Papa was.
I would like to know what the younger kid's savvys will be?Will Lill and Lester get married?And the new baby boy or girl?Savvy or not?

This is my second time reading Savvy and I liked it even better the second time around. I really like the way that the author used so many similes to describe characters, actions, and feelings throughout the story. I also liked the "made up" words that the author came up with, it reminded me of a story from Roald Dahl, he liked to use nonsense words as well. I noticed that Ms. Law liked to use words three times in a row - excited, excited, excited - I'm assuming for emphasis.

i thought the book was the best we have read i wonder what happend to lester aned lil. i think they left carlene and lived hapely ever after. and I wonder what gypsys and sampsons savvy are going to be if they even get one. and i wonder what if the new bomont will come in the next book if there is a next book and what his/her savvy will be and mabye if i had a savvy it would be to be a shape shifter and able to use any element like fire water earth air ice solar lunar and mabye even bringing people back to life if not healing them from any wound sickness or affliction

Savvy is an awesome book. It was written very smothly and had a great setting, but the thing that left me kind of blank was that you never hear about Lil and Lester again after the police takes the kids
I liked the book very much.If I were to give it a rating from 1-5 I would give it a 3.The reason why I'd give it a 3 is because it does not tell the complete story.I wonder what ever happened too Lester and lill? What is sampsons savvy? Was there really another Beaumont on the way if sowhat was its name?

I really liked the book Savvy. It kinda has a moral if it was supposed to or not, and I think that the moral is that like the savvys, some things in life you have to scumble. I wonder what Samsons and Gypsyies savvy will be.By thier actions I think that Samson will be able to turn invisible (because he hides alot.) and Gypsyie will be able to go to sleep instantly( she sleeps alot.). Will there be a seqel? If there is I will definetly will read it!!! Just like the Bomounts my family is a little weird. My mom has 6 kids. 1 single, 1 set of triplets, and 1 set of identical twins.
I liked this book. But I have a few questions. what happened to lill and Lester? Will rocket come back from Wisconsin? Will there be a sequel that tells about Samson?this book was as cool as an ice cube.

Many of you wondered what happened to Lester and Lill after they drop the kids of at the hospital. Sometimes the reason an author doesn't tell the readers everything is so that you can use your own imagination to decide what happens next. We don't always know what happens to friends we meet and lose touch with through the years. Sometimes characters in books are the very same way. So, for now, I'll let you all use your own imaginations about how things turn out for Lill and Lester. Though, I like to imagine that things turn out well for them!
For those of you who wondered if I'm writing another book, I am! But it will still be a little while before it comes out. The next story takes place nine years later and has a brand new main character--Aunt Dinah's son Ledge (if you remember Aunt Dinah from Savvy). But there will be some familiar characters along the way. You'll get to read more about Gypsy and Samson and Rocket, as well as Uncle Autry's twin daughters.
I know it seems like there are a lot of made up nonsense words in the book, but really, most of them are real words! You might try looking some of them up. Sometimes I would take a real word and play with it a little bit. I love learning new words.
A couple of you wondered if Savvy will become a movie. It's very likely! Keep your fingers crossed. I'll know more in a few months. Who do you think would be good actors for the characters?
Others of you wondered why Rocket's not better at scumbling his savvy. Sometimes people lose confidence in themselves or get too nervous to do their best. That's what happened to Rocket. Plus, some savvies are definitely harder to control. Everyone's personality is different. Some of us learn things faster than other people, no matter how old we are.
I liked reading your predictions for Samson and Gypsy. You'll find out for sure about Samson in the next book... but I'm still working on it, so I can't say too much more.
I'm sorry if I didn't answer every question. But I have to keep working on the next book!
